Guard

The Cypress Bay Color/Winter Guard is a highly energetic and skilled class (Eurythmics) that combines dancing with flags, sabres and rifles spinning and is not to be confused with cheerleading.  All Guard members are also expected to participate in the marching band and can also join the Winter Guard Season competition. Practices typically takes place during school and sometimes afterwards twice a week. Color Guard has an essential role in the Marching Season as they will add movement and color to the whole show, while also performing very skilled throws with flags, sabres and rifles.

Winter Guard is a fun-filled and exciting part of Color Guard that takes place during the Winter and is focused entirely on Guard (acrobatics, dance, flag, rifle, sabre). This season is open to students in grades 7-12, and serves as a great introduction to Color Guard for first years while allowing them to establish long lasting relationships with fellow Winter Guard members. The Winter Guard season culminates with a performance at the University of Miami after multiple performances at various schools in South Florida.
