Sound of Thunder Symphonic Band

Symphonic Band is the second highest-level band class of the program and requires self-discipline and hard work from dedicated players.  All musicians are expected to participate in the marching band season and will also need to stay after school for rehearsals during the MPA season.

This past year’s Symphonic Band (2023-2024) performed 4 selections during the 2024 Spring Concert, all of which can be accessed on youtube: “The Mandalorian” arranged by Paul Murtha, composed by Ludwig Goransson, “The Red Baron” by Erik Morales, “Lindbergh Variations” by Robert Sheldon, and “The Ides of March” by Sean O’Loughlin. The Clarinets were named the Best Section of the Year!!!

This year’s Symphonic Band (2023-2024) earned an overall “Superior” at the district level after performing the pieces “El Zorro Rojo,” “English Suite,” and “Albion Sketches” on March 14 and taking part in sight reading. The Symphonic Band advanced to perform at the State Level on April 30, and they earned a “Superior” rating followed by two “Excellent” ratings making them have an overall rating of “Excellent” at the STATE level!!! This past year (2022-2023) the Symphonic Band earned a “Excellent” on stage and a “Superior” in sight reading at the district level on 3/9; they performed “March of the Clowns,” “Three Czech Folk Songs,” and “The Lords of Greenwich.”  Pictured below was this past year’s Symphonic Band!!!
